Speedo sponsored swimmers have enjoyed great success during the 2012 European Aquatics Championships, with several securing gold medals in an exciting week of swimming competition in Debrecen, Hungary.
Among the winners at the event were Speedo sponsored Italian athletes, Filippo Magnini and Fabio Scozzoli, who each secured two gold medals.
Individual events saw Scozzoli triumph in the 100m breaststroke event with an impressive time 01:00.50, while teammate Filippo Magnini enjoyed victory in the 100m freestyle with 48.77.
The pair united to claim their second golds of the meet, both forming part of the triumphant Italian team in the 4×100 medley event. Germany took silver in the race with Speedo sponsored Helge Meeuw and Christian vom Lehn joining Fabio and Filippo on the podium.
Germany returned from Hungary with a host of medals, with Sarah Poewe leading the way with two golds (100m breaststroke and 4x100m medley), together with a bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
Clemens Rapp also claimed gold in the 4x200m freestyle relay, wearing the Speedo Fastskin3 Super Elite suit with Fastskin3 Elite goggles, while Helge Meeuw brought home a second silver medal following the 100m backstroke, wearing the Fastskin3 Super Elite Jammer, Fastskin3 Elite goggles and Fastskin3 cap.
Another relay win for Speedo athletes came as the France team boasting Lorys Bourelly and Mehdy Mettela took gold in the 4×100 freestyle. Fellow French swimmer Alexianne Castel was also among the winners, claiming a gold medal in the 200m backstroke event.
Speedo sponsored Spanish swimmers also tasted significant success at the championships, with Rafa MuĂ±oz and Merxe Peris each securing gold medals in the 50m butterfly and 50m backstroke events respectively. Their Spanish teammate Mireia Belmonte also wore Speedo as she secured gold in the 1500m freestyle, together with a silver medal in the 400m freestyle.
Meanwhile, Sloveniaâ€™s Damir DugonjiÄŤ topped the podium in the 50m breaststroke, with an impressive time of 27.32 edging Fabio Scozzoli into second place.
The Speedo sponsored Israeli team also emerged from the championships with an impressive medal haul, with Jonatan Kopelev securing gold in the 50m backstroke, and teammate Yakov-Yan Toumarkin claiming two bronzes in the 100m and 200m backstroke events. Amit Ivri also took a bronze medal home after placing third in the womenâ€™s 100m butterfly event.
